How I came to write the article about A Child's First Visit to an Art Gallery
As a volunteer at the Tohono Chul Park Art Gallery in Tucson, Arizona, I see many children being brought into to see the exhibits for the first time. What surprised me at first was that even two and three year olds were fascinated when looking at the brighter colored paintings. The most difficult part of having children visit a gallery is that of the "don't touch" rules as their fingers seem to be drawn to work. If the child is old enough, I can explain that the oils from their fingertips will damage the painting and spoil it for other children who come to visit.
If you have a story about your child's first visit to an art gallery, please share it with me.
